SWANSEA PHILHARMONIC CHOIR Welcome to our new look web site. The Swansea Philharmonic Choir is a mixed Choir with around 100 members and was founded in 1959 by Haydn James with the aim of raising the standard of choral singing in Wales and performing less familiar music as well as choral classics. The Choir's wide repertoire covers music from the Baroque to the present day. The Choir is keen to include the works of British composers, namely Vaughan Williams,Britten and Elgar, and to ensure the Welsh audiences have an opportunity to hear the Daniel Jones,Hoddinott,Mathias, Karl Jenkins and Steven McNeff.Performances are given reguarly in the Brangwyn Hall and St Mary's Church Swansea. As Swansea is twinned with Mannheim we have occasionally combined with the Mannheim Bach Choir, memorably Britten's War Requiem in 1995.Further exchanges took place in 2000,2001 and 2008 The Choir is delighted to welcome Rebecca Evans as its Honourary Patron The Choir acknowledges the support if the Welsh Amateur Music Federation which receives its funds from The Welsh Arts Council. 3 April 2011
